Swaziland: cases and investigations
Unexpected infections in children, 2006-7: A random sample national survey in 2006-07 tested 1,665 mother-child pairs with children aged 2-12 years. Fifty children were infected; 11 (22%) of their mothers tested HIV-negative. These unexpected infections got attention and comments in journals and public media. Sources:

Unexpected infections in adults, 2006-7: A random sample national survey of adults aged 15-49 years in 2006-2007 found that 5.2% of women who said they were virgins were HIV-positive.
